Transformational Sailing
Healing through wind, sea and sky — a nonprofit sailing mission for veterans and first responders, paired with Bay Area charters that help fund the work.
Challenge
Captain Tim Blair needed digital homes that could carry two related missions at once: therapeutic sailing for veterans and first responders (nonprofit), and Bay Area charter/training programs that help fund that work — without blurring the story.
Approach
We built clear WordPress experiences for both sides of the work: Transformational Sailing as a 501(c)(3) healing-through-sailing story (who is served, programs, fleet, donate/volunteer), and Sail On Sailing as the charter front door (sightseeing, training, teams, Blue Mind retreats, veterans programs, Sailing for Six). Shared vessels and camaraderie stay visible across both.
Outcome
Two linked sites that explain the mission, invite people onto the water, and support donations and bookings for San Francisco Bay sailing with Tim and crew.
Transformational Sailing is a 501(c)(3) maritime organization serving veterans, first responders, and people facing PTSD or other health challenges. Charters through the companion business help fund therapeutic journeys on San Francisco Bay.
Programs take guests aboard vessels such as the 35 ft pilothouse sloop SV Blue Anima and the Endeavor 37 — away from day-to-day environments — to rebuild teamwork, communication, and a sense of identity through sailing skills, camaraderie, and what practitioners call Blue Mind: the restorative effect of being on the water.
Primary focus includes veterans, active-duty personnel, first responders and families, with extended programs for severe stress and guests living with Parkinson’s. Logistics are deliberately human-scale: weekend mid-day sails, small groups, sliding-scale fees.
The charter side lives at Sail On Sailing — sightseeing, training, team building, Blue Mind retreats, veterans & first-responder sails, Sailing for Six, and special events — skippered by USCG-licensed captain Tim Blair from the Sausalito / Ft. Baker area. A share of charter profits supports sliding-scale access through the nonprofit.
